Welcome to BradARA!
(Broadstairs Active Retirement Association)
BradARA is a social club based in Broadstairs, Kent, open to local men and women who are retired or semi-retired.
We provide members with opportunities to make friends and engage in activities through attending regular meetings, and joining in with outings and social and cultural events.

BradARA is a satellite group from the well-established TARA (Thanet Active Retirement Association) which has been running since 1983. We are affiliated to the Kent Active Retirement Association (KentARA) which has 84 club branches throughout Kent (click on the crown at the top of this page to learn about the King's award given to KentARA).
What We Do
BradARA holds monthly meetings for all of its full members on the first Tuesday of the month throughout the year at 10am in the Memorial Hall, High Street, St. Peters, Broadstairs. There is a monthly guest speaker, chosen to be both interesting and entertaining for our members. There are also many social events throughout the year, see below.
Membership
To attend the monthly BradARA meetings it is necessary to be a ‘Full Member’, current cost £24 per year (Jan-Dec). Due to limitations on hall space Full Membership is no longer open to new members; there is a waiting list. Fortunately the club is still able to offer ‘Social Membership’ at just £12 per year, this gives access to all BradARA social events and activities (just not the monthly meetings).
Events
-
We have weekly activities such as a ukulele club and table tennis.
-
Monthly there is a coffee morning, a lunch group, Cribbage, Rummikub, a walking group. and a book (reading) group.
-
There are also frequent outings - coach trips to places of interest, to theatres and to shows.
-
And there are annual BradARA holidays and short breaks. At least once a year there is a hotly-contested crazy golf tournament!
-
We also have access to the events of other local Active Retirement Associations (TARA, RamARA, CLARA) - different activities each day of the week such as: Zumba, Keep Fit, Kurling, walks and line Dancing (provided that they have spaces). And we can go on their holidays too, again, if they have spaces.
